Hi Don,There are three types of wiring loom, you should be able to find a label on the loom with either 47X,51X OR 52X.Have a look at this photo and you can see the postion of this label on the right hand side of the centre airbox.
The 47x is the standard loom, the 51x loom is different to allow for the fuel tank sender/gauge and over speed light in the rev counter. The 52x loom is different to allow for the side stand cut out switch.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Steve

Tks Steve, ive got 52x harness in bike, got the side stand connection. tag removed from old harness.
Ive about finished list of missing parts. most important are both previous mentioned coil bracket and lower oil tank bracket n/a. they may be tuff to replace. coils, reeds, also missing in action.
taking it slow at this point waiting on parts. plus in the final process of frame off on old rd350 which ive had since new in 74.

Turns out that this model had its own owners manual,i thought i had all the manuals until this came my way last week.Very rare item as there were only 150 rz500s made.It is dated October 1985 which was the last run of these bikes which only went to Canada in November 1985.
