Re: NS400R on display.
Very nice. Looks to be extremely clean. Did you restore it yourself?
I have some desirable bikes here and I think my NS400R is the best looking of them all. Not necessarily the most fun to ride because the Honda does everything so well, almost too well, but you can't beat the classic look, and yours looks amazing.

Re: NS400R on display.
It's not restored, original 45000 km's, engine wasn't open.
The only things: tank and seat cover clearcoated, both side fairing panels new paint (left side decoloured bij heat, 2 spots), left side panel new.
Original silencers were removed (i think it sounded like a vacuum cleaner) and replaced by Dep's. The ATAC's got spacers for more low rpm power.

Re: NS400R on display.
Beautiful bike mate, I had 2 x HRC NS400s back in the day, my friend has a Rothmans one now and after riding it recently, the NSs reputation as a much better handling bike over the RD was and is well deserved.
Re: NS400R on display.
I owned one of these back in the day and it seized on me after a week of use... Top cylinder, Returned it to the dealer and bought another RD500.

Just that you know it... YOU are the reason why I`m possibly driving 500km on tuesday to spend some money on another Bike.

Re: NS400R on display.
I would love that bike on my collection...
Here is one of my old NS400s, this is still MOtd according to the DVLA so must be in someones collection ..I WOULD have to have this back.
Ballaugh Bridge on the Isle of Man.

With Randy Mamola at a Riders for Health bash, Kevin Schwantz was also here on this day, day ended with both Randy and kevin leading a rather spirited ride out on public roads...unforgettable.

Sorry for taking your thread off topic but I do love all things NS related.

No, the more the merrier (if i stand corrected), this isn't my thread, this is ours.
Piccie of Jumping Jack (Middelburg, famous dutch 500 racer), and Randy must be shown, allso silver's nice one!
No offence, but from a RD500 to a NS, the 400 feels like a moped, but steering and breaking and frame wise it's better!

Re: NS400R on display.
The Honda easily has superior braking and handling, but it is seriously underpowered. The engine is only 387 cc and it is difficult to make serious power with that displacement in stock form. Considering an RZ350 is 347 cc it's easy to see the problem facing the Honda. While I do love my NS400R and it is my favourite bike as far as looks go, it isn't my favourite to ride because it does everything so well it is almost boring. The bike only makes real power above 7500 RPM when the ATAC valves close, but I rarely get above 3rd gear because 3rd gear is 160 KPH.
Mine has 28,000 km from new. The engine was completely rebuilt just before I bought it from a friend of mine and member of this forum. I don't see myself selling my NS400R any time soon and when I do it would only be as part of the full set along with my RZ500 and RG500.
NS400R ownership is not complete unless you also have one of these

Re: NS400R on display.
That is a good idea.
The last time I removed the ATAC covers one of the bolts snapped. Just a bit frustrating.

Well, then - I wanna play, too!2002tiil wrote:No, the more the merrier (if i stand corrected), this isn't my thread, this is ours.
Mine's a little different.
Anyone have a CAD drawing, or photos, or just dimensions, for the ATAC chamber expanders? I'd like to try a set.
