That plunge can be extremely hard sometimes. I've been there many times. But your results look great and I know you are glad you took that next step and can now move on.

Keep up the good work!

I picked up a second set, previously trimmed, so I wouldn't feel guilty about cutting them more.
Then I finally put the stock ones on, and I like them.
But it seems like it will take me years to get back to the carbs ....

I live this Seat Unit. Maybe you should try to lift your rear light, as I did. To be aligned with the cans and the seat line. download/file.php?id=1068

Hi.
I had the same leak at the plastic hose.
The O-rings had flattened with age and lost 0,4 mm compared to new ones ( still available and same part as oil filler cap one so they can have a new life ... )
Also had the same leak at the oil pump cover.
There is a gasket there that is also still available new ( 47X-13329-00 ).
Mount a new one, fill the gearbox with oil and wait some days.
If it still leaks, try with some sealant, it should do the job.

Merci Phil,

Yes I will replace the o-rings.

For the gearbox oil I already mounted a new gasket.
Will try some sealent.

Hi guys,

Carburetors in, air boxes in.
Only small details are missing now so she's ready for the road. It's definitely for 2020 !!

Now prototyping the rearset plates to fit late 90's Suzuki ones.
But that is not nice yet, I have another idea in mind.

I also prototyped a rear exhaust bracket.
And I'm happy with the final result  .

Hello Kalim,

look at this, Maybe it is also an option for you to have a cleaner view into the triangle

It is easy to have a lower position of the PV Motor. Without the battery it is possible to mount a flat cover between the Frame tubes then ( which I am still working on )

best regards

Hi Olli, thanks for sharing this.
I can't locate the YPVS motor like this because I'm using an R6 swinger, and there is no room remaining bellow the YPVS motor as per with the original swinger.

If you leave the hole in swingarm from R6 shock it should work

Hello to the community. One year I haven't posted in this thread, although quite a lot have happened.
The pandemic had at least one positive effect to me: allowing to spend time on this project.
With short work and forced to stay home, I've been located in the garage quite often during the past months !

Let's follow the timeline.
Since the last post, I've installed a 520 chain and front+rear sprockets 16x42. The front sprocket comes from an older R1.
And I also installed the front brake, Nissin radial PR19 master cylinder, combined with the Yamaha blue dots calipers.

The final fuel lines are also installed, now it can run properly on its own !
I had to redo some carb work, one fuel level was wrong. Now I have no carb pissing.
The engine starts really easily, and it runs well. I'm super happy about the rebuild.

For the rear set I've choosen to go for 750 GSX-Rs from the end of 90s.
It was a bit of a headache to find the right mounting position to have no interference between selector and side stand.

And last October I received this box from China !

Image

A full fairing.
It's OK quality. Far from being perfect, they align quite well, and the paint is correct if you don't mind having some drippings here and there in corners.
For 350€ it is definitely worth it.

Image

Image

No finish inside the panels.

Image

And then I could see her complete finally !
Image

She's too high from the front.
I weighted her at 168kg as is (89kg front / 79kg rear), ready to run or almost. She'll weight 170kg when finished I think. Whereas the front fork is from a YZF which is more 200kg. And I'm a light rider (60kg).
The plan is to get front springs tailor made to fit this light setup.

And recently I painted the inside of the front fairing in matt black, installed the mirrors too.

Image

My tacho doesn't work. I can see the hand slightly moving when switching on and off the engine. So it's not totally dead.
I read here and there I could try to "shake" the electronics, I'll give it a try when I can spend time at my workplace.

The engine still has a very small oil leak at the oil pump cover. I haven't tackled this yet.
It's now removed again and I'll see what I can do.
It was the opportunity to a first oil change. In total the engine has run 30 to 60 minutes I guess since the rebuilt.
The oil pump filter has collected some black glue sealant small pieces from the inside of the cranks.

That's where I am now !

Few things remaining really.
- Paint of the seat of course, and the front guard.
- Find a small water expansion tank.
- install turn signals front and rear
- getting the front springs

And that's about it !
