At this point I dont know what you are even trying to say, you've jumped from a 1976 911 turbo, the 930, to a 908.
Just like a with 1976 street bike, newer ones are just plain faster.
Doesn't mean you can't appreciate a classic, enjoy it, be entertained by it.
Would you have been less offended/defensive if I pointed out a current porsche tow vehicle is faster than the old car?

I was not offended. I was trying to point out the history of Porsche. I was also pointing out and maybe I didn’t make it clear. A rear engine car is not wise to use as a tow vehicle
Nor a Porsche should be used in red neck racing

Alfa's history stands up to anyone's. Most everyone is aware of porches short but illustrious history.
Who said anything about using a rear engine porsche to tow? I pointed out a new twin turbo alfa tow vehicle is faster than an old porsche, as are some front engine porsche tow vehicles.
Porsche has been happy to provide 1/4 mile times as a performance benchmark for most of their history, like everyone else they recognise it as a useful figure basis of comparison. Call it what you want, but I bet if you go on a forum for newer porsches, you'll find plenty of talk about it, dragy comparisons etc

short illustrious career. Where have you been? You must be a youngster. The first time Porsche race was in 1951 winning its class a 1.1 liter class. They also won the Rome Berlin race racing the train from Rome to Berlin. Porsche kept racing and wining its class during the 50's with the Furhman engine. The four cam engine that was in the Grossmutten driven by Edgar Barth. Then finally wining LeMans overall in 1970 with the 917. Porsche continues to race but not in the prototype class. It takes a lot of money to race and after all Porsche is an engineering firm. Its funny in the 80's with an attempt to absorb Porsche from an American manufacturer. Mercedes and VW stated that any American car manufacturer trying to absorb Porsche. Mercedes and VW will take it over in case of a hostile take over. I never heard of Alfa of a hostile take over. Oh Yes for your information Porsche was the first to use a computer at LeMans.

the only 1/4 mile record posted by Porsche was done by Huske Von Hanstein for publicity in 1966 for the 906. As for a Porsche as a tow vehicle yes a water cooled could work. After all the first 904 was a truck engine.

1951, that's post wwII, so yeah, short compared to some others. Bentley, fiat, heck even Ford, and yes alfa, who won the first world championship in 1925, but of course were being raced probably by someone since 1910.
you must be a youngster.

Shall we do the math? 1951-2020. How many years in constant racing? 69 years. The other manufacturers have not constantly racing. Let’s take ford. They race for four years. Only Alfa in the thirties driven by tazio nuvolari. The other thing that needs to be considered is that other manufacturers come to Porsche for the engineering expertise

you should actually read something, instead of being an ignorant fan boy.
Sorry, but there's stuff you just don't know about most any brand other than the one you seem to be gaga over.

A fan boy I think you are one of those people that are against German because of the Holocaust. The holocaust was a terrible time in history and a stain in German honor. I do know that Enzo Ferrari worked for Alfa and they were very successful. The holocaust is blame on the Germans, but also three other names come to mind. Clemenceau, loyd George and Woodrow Wilson. Let me leave this thread with

uh, I think I mentioned I had a 911.
Nice car nice engine, but realistically, not very well balanced handling. Oh yeah, thats why porsche has tried to move to mid engine and front engine, rather than the hanging behind beetle derived...
I drove a 356, and sorry, too much of a beetle.
Let's see, had bmws too.
So I dont really hold porsches nazi roots against them, I owned one and although I liked it, I like other cars better.
Although I must confess the superiority syndrome displayed by some fan boy owners has always been tiring.

I can see your failure in understanding what centrifugal force is all about and how Porsche used it to its advantage with engine in the back. The Furhman engine now that’s a mechanical symphony

What is the difference between a Porsche and a porcupine?

So tacky are you saying I’m a prick? I guess I’m a prick with an education. It’s nice to rise above the uneducated
