Another One leaves The Nest
Said goodbye to my big block toy today. I'll miss the power, the sound, and the smell, but I am happy to have the space in the garage over the coming winter so I can get some bike work done. There is plenty of it waiting.
The car was picked up today and is on its way to Montreal. Once there it will be loaded on a ship and is off to its new owner in Switzerland. Small world.

Wow, a beast! I know what you mean about space, having to put one of my cars in the garage when the hail comes means a lot of regigging

Re: Another One leaves The Nest
This was 4 days ago. It was worse before then. No room to move a bike in or out. They are all intertwined and moving one means moving many. There are more unseen to the right. First world problems.
Re: Another One leaves The Nest
Haha, yeah its like that in my place as well when the car is in. no bikes can get out without the car going out first, and then they need extracting from the row of bikes or the other room, which means getting the others out first. grr... Much simpler when no car in there for both of us

Oh, damn.
My condolences. That's a beautiful ride.

"lost $500k"
dare we ask?
it's funny, over here there's some, uh, euro snobbery among sporting car types towards TA's etc, but they seem to like them everywhere else - appreciation for what they are.
I always figured the 928 was a TA "copy".

Long term, might be worth itsilverstrom wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 10:58 pmI didn't have much sweat equity into it, so letting it go wasn't as painful as if I'd built it myself.
The ride I let go 16 months ago was painful. I lost $500K on that deal

Damn nice car, but yeah, space can be a premium for hoarders...er collectors.
I would have stored that car here for you John. You could have come and taken it for a drive in sunny and warm Livermore anytime.
It would have been out of gas and in need of tires though.
Looking forward to see what fills the shop space.

oh, it seems too obvious now.
Re: Another One leaves The Nest
Hi John
Don't you have the land? I know that I could never get rid of the 911. The other option was to build a second garage. I can say that I was lucky when I bought this house in Northern California with a big lot. At times I wish I had a bigger lot so I can build another garage. If I kept going with the garages. The garages will be bigger than the house. German car? Let me know if you need advice on a 911 or a 356 (four cam?).

Re: Another One leaves The Nest
I have my heart set on a 1976 Carerra 3.0 that belongs to a freind. He bought it when we lived in Germany. As a 911 guy you'll know the rarity of the 76 Carerra 3.0. Porsche built a limited quantity using the 76 Carerra turbo (930) motor without the turbo and the body has a half flared rear end. Wider than the 2.7 Carerra of 76, but narrower than the 930. He isn't interested in selling...yet. Pricey when he is. Less than 800 LH drive 76 Carrera 3.0 built and all were sold in Europe.giron wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 6:34 pm Hi John
