Yamaha RZV500R Carb Balancing

#1 Post by ChequeredFlagRacing » Sat May 23, 2020 4:35 pm

Rode it last year and it ran fine. Bought the air flow meter late 2019 to check air. Now I've got around to tuning the carbs. Left lower pot was hardly breathing. Last part of the video shows all four balanced

Idle is too high.
It should run fine at 1200 rpm and needle near the number 2 for the four carbs.

Idle to sort so not unduly worried. Will be rechecking air flow then I'll set idle

Ok.
First of all, balance the two banks at full open throttle as in the manual.
Next synchronize the two carbs of one bank with the tool by adjusting the synchronizing screw.
Do the same for the other bank.
Finally adjust the two banks at idle equally with the idle screws.

Yes, you're right, you can do these in any order.
But you will find easier to set up full throttle before starting the engine
Then once engine started if you modify the synchronization in a carb bank, you'll have to check/adjust idle speed.

Haha : the post dates from 2009 ... reason why the user doesn't exist anymore...
And there is no reason to blank of behind the carbs as it has already been answered.

when you set them with the meter and then give it a slight rev and test at the same time should all 4 readings still be the same ?
