Hello good people of RD/RZ forum, Glenn here from Australia.
This is my first ever post on anything ever, so please forgive any mistakes, typo's, fumble's, or transgression of forum etiquette.
I am now in possession of 10 Yamaha 2 strokes, so think it is time to branch out and communicate with other Yamaha 2 stroke boffin's around the globe.
I would like any info/comments/recommendations for my latest project RZ680 into 2012 R6 chassis.
Has anyone out there done the 680 conversion, looking at piston brands, carby sizes (thinking 32mm flatslide with airbox) and I have seen a 500 with a Ducati dry clutch fitted, is this difficult to convert?
Pitfalls, do's, dont's, part's to use, not to use, any info at all would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Glenn

Buy a TZ 250 or RS 250 Honda if you want to go fast. I have seen these projects over the years and a lot fail, never completed, or sold. Those that do have the knowledge and patience and complete them never seem to ride them. I believe concerned with wear and tear. A well built and assembled engine will get 90 ish horsepower with pipes and a few tweaks. Be ashame to see a perfectly good engine butchered to the point that is a boat anchor. That is what a 500 engine is. So over built, but also why mine has done 9 years totally enjoyable track time. A lot of Pannigales, R1s, and RRs have seen those 4 pipes from behind. Get ahold of Bill Wilson if you want an engine modded. If you have the ability to do it I envy you. I would sell all ten bikes and buy a Suter 500 if you want fast, but good luck twisting the throttle.

Well said , better buy another bike for ur collection then to destroy an iconic motor like the rz/rd
I ve seen many projects like the one of ur Dreams, never was it reliable or fun to drive , 100 hp is a realistic number for this bike .
Enjoy now it still is possible , the electric era is coming soon
