I'm trying to change the temp gauge on my rz350. But I can't get the gauges apart. I' sure it's simple I'm just overlooking something. Can anyone give me some advice?

Can anyone tell me if the thermo sensor from a 2001 r6 is the same as the 85 rz350 ? The part # for the rz is 5r2-83591-00-00. The r6 # is
