first dumb question: am i retreaded, or is there no "off" position on the fuel petcock? i get "res", "on", and "pri", but no "off".

Petcock works on a diaphram. No off position. Prime will bypass the diaphram and let gas thru. Reserve and run will open when the right side carb pulls a vaccume on the petcock diaphram. Iron. Oh, nice bike.

thanks and thanks.
i thought i was losing my marbles. good idea, only draws fuel as needed, on the XT if i forget to shut the fuel off, it tends to flood and is a huge booger to start.

Yes flooding can be and is a problem. But I think the thinking behind it is to not hydrolock the motor. Now that can if kicked hard bend rods etc;. Iron.
