The parts that look like black beads are soft rubber frame protectors.

Won't need them on this installation.

Got started on designing a polished aluminum radiator overflow/recovery tank.

Just the first try. Needs some adjustments.

Will fill the OEM tank to the MAX level, then pour the water into a baggie. Can use that to check the fluid volume on the new tank design. Will also fill the OEM tank to the top to check the overflow volume on the new design.

Will try to make the tank the same size as 2 of the triangle openings in the lattice. The tank will attach to the carbon fiber panel with 2 threaded bungs, and hopefully, the filler neck and cap will protrude up through the panel, as well.

Forgot to post pics of the throttle cable holder.

Image

Trying to put the throttle cable holder in-line with the coil and have the throttle cable run through the middle, between the spark plug cables.

Image

Image

Throttle cable holder was designed to fit over the single to double cable adapter.

The old water in the baggie trick. :smt003
Works well to determine total volume, and minimum and maximum fluid levels.

Image

Tried several different shapes and sizes for the coolant recovery tank. The limited space makes it impossible to do what I want.

For now, the best option is to go with this size and shape. Will need to cut down one corner and weld in a triangle, to make clearance for the radiator hose.

Image

The overflow hose fitting is another problem. More on that, later.

Trying to design a sight window. Wanted to center a window in one triangle opening in the frame, but the window was too small.

Image

Working on a full-size window. Trying to design the corner radii, and clearance for the o-ring and bolts. Hope things work out okay.

Always love CAD, great way to really see what you might make.

For things like hangers and footrest plates the next step is PAD.

Working on the recovery tank design as time allows. Never owned or used a clear cover, so I'm just winging it. Definitely more difficult to use a fixed tank size, and make the window as large as possible.

Tolerances are tight. O-ring will be approximately 2.0mm. O-ring is approximately 2mm from the hole, and 2mm from the M4 screw threads.

Image

Will need help with the CAD drawing, then can maybe 3D print a simple flat with just the O-ring groove. Need to find an appropriate size o-ring, or use cord stock.

The following area in yellow shows the size of the bezel. Left 5mm around the perimeter for the welding bead. I think the lexan should be slightly recessed into the bezel, to put the right amount of pressure on the o-ring when the bezel is fully tightened down.

I sure wish I could find time to learn a simple CAD program.

This recovery tank might be too difficult for a first-timer, though.[smilie=dunno.gif]

Yep. Can't determine the height of the mounting bungs and filler neck with CAD.

Need to try it on for size.
