Re: Sacrificial Lamb
Thanks, MK ^^^.
Got some clear tubing with a spring inside.
Submerged a small piece in brake fluid to see if it holds up.
Will wait about a week to see if it's gonna have a melt down.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
you might need to wait more than a week with some of this stuff, I fitted some clear line to my resevoirs and it took 6months to leach brake fluid through the hoses as they were obviously porous but with small holes. :/

Your tubing was probably rubber. Usually takes at least 2-3 months.JonW wrote:you might need to wait more than a week with some of this stuff, I fitted some clear line to my resevoirs and it took 6months to leach brake fluid through the hoses as they were obviously porous but with small holes. :/
Got the info and found out my tubing is plastic (PVC), so it should be okay.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
Got the custom front brake res sorted.
Ditched the connecting arm and mounted the res directly on the clamp with a machined adapter.
Working on getting longer brake lines.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
For clear brake reservoir hose Tygon works well, you can get it from https://www.kurveygirl.com/shop/index.php?cPath=106" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or https://www.oppracing.com/category/33-f ... cessories/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have dealt with both and would recommend either. With OPP pay attention to the delivery times listed with each item, not every thing is a stock item.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
Res looks sort of like a piston. Cool.
Re: Sacrificial Lamb
This bike still has the OEM rear shock from 1985.
Read about the new R1 shock transplant, so I'll give it a try. The plan is to have the shock shortened internally by a suspension shop. Hope it works out.
Just bought this one. Supposed to be new. $150 + $10 shipping. Seller feedback 100% good.

It shortened beyond stock capability.

No cutting or welding this time?
I was going to check into a bottom tap for the lower mount, as well.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
I'm not sure how long the shock will be. Its documented in this thread here(viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13852" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
It says the new shock is 318mm and stock is 290mm.savethe2strokes wrote:I'm not sure how long the shock will be. Its documented in this thread here(viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13852" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
So, 28mm or 1.1 inches longer than stock. Seems quite a bit. Will raise the tail considerably more.
One concern is I'm just 160 lbs. Another concern is how much the (fork) rake will change. Don't want the bike to be twitchy.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
I didn't realize that the shock was that much longer than stock. I will try and make it shorter with its built in capability. I think a 10MM difference is not that big of a deal.

Re: Sacrificial Lamb
Every mm counts. You are messing with lever ratios. I have the '99-'02 R6 shock in my daily, and my race experience on a TZ and my 220 lb arse find the combo good. The stock shock never worked from day one. Felt like a rigid rear end...well, almost.
