RZ/RD 350 & Misc. 2-Stroke Tech BBS

I have an 84 RZ350 with the dreaded 29k cdi. At a minimum which Zeeltronic do I need to get rid of it. Not over worried about fancy programming, etc. more interested in getting a reliable setup for the street.

My favorite is always a DC CDI with integrated PV controller as it eliminates 3 sources of mischief at once (CDI, PV-controller and source coils) AND adds a few ponies if well set up.
The PDCI 11 V or VT would do the job:

Important note: Do not screw up the exact spelling on your order. The PDCI is a DC CDI (= works on12V) whereas the PCDI still needs working source coils!

I too am considering this unit but wonder if anyone has a list of the required connectors so that I can buy the unit plus connectors at the same time? Anyone have any comments about the Canadian agent for Zeeltronic? Millarengines.com is listed as the Canadian agent by the way

As long as it has good contact any connector will do.
And as long as you're willing to cut off the original ones (as you can't get most of them).

I use these cheap ones and they survived a 700km trip in the UK summer (aka "it's raining cats and dogs)

do you need to run resistor plug caps and or plugs with the zeel units ?

Easy answer : Plugs and caps with resistor.

If you skip one of them, you get funny effects starting from digital temp gauges or handheld going nuts up to ignition cutting out at high load /rpm.

So, today I received my stator and rotor from Great Britain, I bought it for price and it was supposed to be for the same bike. But the rotor is 29L-50, supposed to be '83-'84. The stator is marked EZ and the one of the source coil wires is red/white which says it is '85. The source coil that's supposed to read 225 ohms and it actually reads 134. According to Martin, this is not a problem if I use a DC ignition, which I plan to do, unless the rotor is for some reason not compatible with the stator.

Rotor stator are mostly compatible. MK posted a picture of wires that need to be switched at some point. This was a MASSIVE issue for me when I didn't know I was mixing and matching...
