Re: paint codes
As far as I have seen there are no paint codes. There may be a match available from Colorrite (I think) but their paint is horribly expensive. They are one of the few companies with off the shelf paint for a number of vintage motorcycles.
Are you trying to match existing bodywork? If so you need to get a shop to match paint as the OEM color will no longer be correct.
If you are not trying to match OEM paint then find something that matches your replacement decals.
Most actual paint shops will have a gun they can use to paint match. It may take a couple tries.
I have been through this exercise for most of the RZ colors as well as Kawasaki ZX7s. It takes some time.
Alternatively, take it to a painter and they can charge you to sort it out.

ColorRite does match exactly to Yamaha codes. I have used it and it is perfect.
https://www.colorrite.com/product/yamah ... w-1752.cfm Enter your paint name or code or number in the search box.

I have looked high and low for paint codes that I could have mixed locally. Positively outstanding post.
In your vast knowledge base, do you have the PPG code (or other) for competition yellow?
I cannot decide on what color to paint my 84. Originally yellow & black. Everyone and their brother has one of those. I tend to hang out on the edge of the envelope occasionally. Case in point the scheme I am thinking about:
I am assuming this is Silky White and the blues are (dark) Faraway Blue FWB and (light) French Blue FBL. Correct?
Going by the codes you have provided:
Silky White PPG 4576
Do you have the PPG code (or other mfg.) for Faraway & French Blue (assuming these are the blues in the photo above)?
Any tidbit of info that you can share would be extremely helpful!

Re: paint codes
Far Away Blue is the same color as New Holland Blue....yes, New Holland the tractor company. Strange, but true. Any NH dealer should have it.
I have no information on Competition Yellow, but if you use the forum search box I'm sure you'll find what you need. It has been discussed here many times.

Re: paint codes
It's interesting the Competition Yellow only appears in search and not by year/make/model.
It is a different paint number from the "anniversary edition yellow" found on the 2016 R6/R1
Thanks for posting that link. I wrote to them and never received a reply.

P51,
I pulled that pic from the web. I do not know all the colors. That is why I asked above.

Re: paint codes
rddecals has all the OEM style decals. As said, colorrite is the only company that matches the OEM colors. I've got a can of the yellow sitting around here somewhere that was based on a scan of a NOS panel and custom matched.

Re: paint codes
Mark Olan at RDdecals is the best in the business. I use him for all of my Yamahas and Suzukis, including custom work. I've never been disappointed.evan_calgary wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 10:41 am rddecals has all the OEM style decals. As said, colorrite is the only company that matches the OEM colors.
