Streetfighter RZV Roller

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Looking at chain sliders all morning.
Trying to get some good ideas. Highly doubt there's an OEM or aftermarket chain slider that will fit right and look good.
Probably, a one-off chain slider is the only way. Right now, my concern is coming up with a functional design that looks good and is of equal quality to the custom arm.
The chain slider will definitely need attachment points on the arm. Should probably be done before the swingarm is permanently welded together.
Another issue is the routing of the rear brake line. Have to look at that carefully. Will also need attachment points for tubing holders.
Might seem like unimportant items, but the small details can make or break the overall look.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Are you planning on mounting a fender to it? Could you 3d print a chain guard? I don't know much about 3d printed part durability.
Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Have you taken a look at the Paul Smart Ducati chain slider. The front left portion of the swingarm looks similar.
Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Sebastian said he can make a one-off hugger, but pretty sure I want it naked.
Chainguard will most likely be machined delrin. Looking into a rubber material infused with oil, but not sure about machining characteristics.
Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Where would I see that?
Can you post a pic?
I've been searching pics, and looking at universal type stuff on ebay. Starting to get ideas, but almost positive the slider will need to be custom.
Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
This is the only pic of the chain guard on the swing arm that I found.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
Stayed up all night, last night.
Also spent most of the day today looking at custom and gull-wing swingarms of all types.
Really don't want to mess up all the nice swingarm work with the brake line. Haven't found any great ways to run the hose . Found many examples of brake lines that make awesome swingarms look like shit. Will post some examples of that.
Using this pic to draw all my brake line ideas. Working on something interesting that may, or may not, work.
Like usual.

Re: Streetfighter RZV Roller
I wouldn't mind a brake line spoiling the picture if the welding wasn't already doing it.
Regarding the perfect rest the builders weak point is definitely aluminum welding.
It'll last as good as pretty welds, but I guess you are not happy with the looks, are you?

Of course, I would prefer more beautiful welding.MK wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:42 am I wouldn't mind a brake line spoiling the picture if the welding wasn't already doing it.

I could have arranged for a pro welder to do it, but the swingarm is being made by a friend of many years. He's not a swingarm fabricator, and this is his first try.
Means a lot to me that a friend is doing the work.
I'll be happy if the swingarm fits and functions like the R6 conversion arm. I made some poor design choices because of inexperience and health issues.
For sure, the welding isn't my biggest worry about this swingarm.
