Front stay
Are there differences between front bird cage on the rzv and rz 500 and if so will the rzv cage fit the rz500?
Re: Front stay

Re: Front stay
The RZV part # is 1GG-28356-00 and uses an 8 mm mirror bolt
1GE is 1GE 28356-00 and uses an 8 mm mirror bolt.
47X is 47X-28356-00 and uses a 10 mm mirror bolt.
That is what the fiche says, but I bought an RZV stay direct from Japan and it came with 10 mm nuts for the mirror bolts. I have one of each here, but now I'm just confused.

Re: Front stay
Hmm, I didn't have a problem with mine John, One is an RZV and one is an RZ and I sold a few and they all had 8mm bolts....

Re: Front stay
Not concerned about the size of mirror bolts because my stay has no ears for mirror attachment PO cut them off and put rubber plugs in the holes.

Re: Front stay
Jackson.40 discussed it a while back. The parts lists show the differences. Not sure why there is a difference.

Re: Front stay
there are 4 different front stays :
steel frame :
47X-28356-00 ( for 47x , 10 mm bolt holes for mirrors , the boxy part that bolts on the main frame (steering stem) is narrower (10 to 5 mm ) (due to steel frame i guess)
1GE-28356-00 ( for 1GE , 8 mm bolt holes for mirrors , the boxy part that bolts on the main frame (steering stem) is narrower (10 to 5 mm )
aluminium frame :
51X-28356-00 ( for51X , 10 mm bolt holes for mirrors , the boxy part that bolts on the main frame (steering stem) is wider ) (due to aluminium frame i guess)
1GG-8356-00 ( for1GG , 8 mm bolt holes for mirrors , the boxy part that bolts on the main frame (steering stem) is wider ) (due to aluminium frame i guess)
bird cages for aluminium frames (51X-28356-00 and 1GG-8356-00) can be used on steel frame if one adds some spacers/collars (opposite is not true )
basically 1GG is for the 51X what the 1GE is for the 47X (a kind of second generation with small and not so so small modifications )

Re: Front stay
Top picture with the addition of spacers will fit both bikes. Bottom picture will not unless you cut the spacers off.

Re: Front stay
Thanks for the photos. Does anyone have either one that they are willing to part with? Don’t like riding without mirrors. Previous owner cut off ears that mirrors are attached to.

Re: Front stay
I have a few questions to the front stay.
Can somebody with a good (NOS?) one answer them?
Mine seems to be a bit twisted.
