I've had my RZ500 sit right on the 240km mark on the speedo for about 10mins or so. I was chasing a friend on a YZF1000 Thunderace on the Hume Hwy back into Sydney one night and thats about a quick as I could get it to go (9500rpm in top, stock gearing).
My bike had only 1000km on it after a rebuild, fully stock engine / jetting with only jolly moto's. I didn't have the sides or belly pan on at that time.
Only bad thing about that run was my rear crank decided to spread and destroy the outside clutch side bearing on my next outting. So i'd recommend welding the cranks before any land speed record attempts.
Karl
