Well...., Im sorry if I left anyone hanging on this build. Got side tracked with getting a ppl license along with a high performance endorsement and my own 182, :). I'm still very busy with work but only have these 2 bikes on my project list this winter. Im ready to get back started with most all parts to finish the builds sitting next to them.
First up is the stocker. For 3k one can order all needed to do a 421cc full setup. Please, someone tell me to keep it a stock cylinder setup. I think it's the right choice seeing I also have the Frankenstein bike. Post like if its something better out there thess days.
I have been riding the stocker for a rip or two every couple weeks. It's for sure going to have to have a cluch as it slips in any gear but 1st. If I keep it stock setup can I get away with just Hinson fibers, disk and springs? Or should I get the basket kit? I haven't pulled the engine yet but do plan on at least seals, rings and gasket kit. Who do I need to send the head off to for redoming and to get comp up?

Way to go getting your pilot's license. My brother manages the Heber Springs airport and does flight instructions there. He taught me how to fly in 1980 right after he got his instructor rating. He taught my son how to fly a few years ago.

You fly much? What kind of plane? I go to Mt View often on Saturdays for some mountain music and food.
Got lucky and found a low time 182 (2500tt) with a new 470R Continental, 175 smoh. Just got back from a trip
to Santa Fe. Very sketchy as a first timer flying in the Mountains. It was 10k air density when I landed. Cought some nice tail winds on the way back, gs was 200 mph :).

Work and flying took lots of time the last year. I did manage to find some time to work on the RZ. Have 98% of the parts needed to get this bike on the road, I think ?. Feel like I have a big milestone out-of-the-way by finishing the pipes. Does anyone see something that may not fly? My main question is there enough clearance between the tire and pipes? The wheel is all the way forward.

Looks sharp, but are you going to be able to remove the rear wheel without dropping the pipes?

Thanks RuZty, dropping the pipes is not time consuming or hard at all the way things are and are going to be set up on the bike. I'll be wanting to keep a eye on everything anyway, I'm thinking. I believe I can just drop one bolt out of the rear shock load link and the arm will lower enough to remove the wheel without dropping the pipes. Good thing is I don't take the wheels off often ?.

Anyone have a suggestion for a starting point jetting for Mikuni flat slide 34 millimeter carbs on a 392 plus 4 Cub? How about starting point on a Zeeltronic 10t? Or is it a stock Program on it from Zeeltronic?

Checked the jetting and it has 50p and 280m clip in the middle, sound ok? George Babor built the engine and I think set up the carbs as well.
Got a little work done last night. FZR 600 radiator fit nice in the 400 chassis.

I was under the impression that hard ends on the air filters were contraindicated for a 2-stroke? I went with full foam pods on mine to eliminated the hard reflective surface at the end of the filter.

I think that reference maybe to the Old 70s 80s K & N Style with a metal backing plates they were relatively short maybe 6 in maximum.. these newer style K& N filters (like ones in the photo) work fantastic there has never been any problem that I know of I've run them on the Banshees with no ill effect whatsoever...I'm running PWK 33mm airstrikers with these filters and outerwears on my Banshee and the performance is crisp & impressive. my four friends also run the same filters on anything from a basically stock Banshee to a full-on Cheetah power valved motor each has very good resultsHooligan wrote:I was under the impression that hard ends on the air filters were contraindicated for a 2-stroke? I run cone shaped K&Ns with the hard ends on my street RZs. I'm happy with 56 whp.
