Over the past year or so, my beater bike started to develop an off-idle bog after about 30 min of riding. It kind of felt like a lean bog I guess, but the jetting has been perfect for 10 yrs now. A month later, I would go for a ride and same thing. I was going to give it another try yesterday and wouldn't even start, no spark
So I followed the troubleshooting, pick-up coil was in spec, source coil (high speed) wires Red-Brown was close enough, but the source coil (low speed) wires Green-Brown read open when it should be 225 ohms +/- 20%. As I rotated the flywheel magnet over the source coil I saw a small change in readings, but went right back to open reading. I suspect this is the no-spark culprit and could be behind the low speed bog I was getting... what are your thoughts? I'm aware of the 84's CDI issues, but I've had no problems with the bike for a decade now.
I looked for replacement 29L-81410-50 stator's but there isn't much out there. On top of that, only 1 had the same 3 pin connector for the Red/Green/Brown source coil wires. My 85 bike stator has those wires as individual connectors. What options do I have for a replacement??? Can I make an 85 stator work if I replace the connectors??
Poor performance now no spark, bad stator?
